The Grill at the Meat Market E. coli Outbreak

In late May of 2007, the Fresno County Department of Community Health (FCDCH) announced that it was investigating an E. coli O157:H7 outbreak among several Fresno County, California, residents who had all attended events with food provided by the same caterer. By May 30, the FCDCH investigation indicated that the Meat Market in Fresno was the source of the outbreak, but was waiting on lab tests to confirm the hypothesis.

On June 9, the Fresno Bee reported that FCDCH had identified The Grill at the Meat Market as the source of the E. coli outbreak. In conjunction with the health department’s announcement, the Meat Market issued a recall of all cooked tri-tip sold during the two days in mid-May that were associated with the E. coli outbreak.
