Los Burritos Mexicanos E. coli Outbreak

An E. coli outbreak among patrons of the Lombard, Illinois Los Burritos Mexicanos restaurant sickened at least 52 people in June of 2013, according to the DuPage County Health Department.

The investigation into the E. coli outbreak continued in to July; public health officials did not announce whether a particular food item sold at Los Burritos Mexicanos was the source of the outbreak or if another source of E. coli at the restaurant was found.

Symptoms of E. coli infection

Symptoms of E. coli infection include painful abdominal cramping and diarrhea. In rare cases, patients develop hemolytic uremic syndrome, a complication of E. coli infection that can lead to kidney failure.
