Disbelief over cattle focus in E.coli probe

The Wales Centre for Health (WCfH) has recommended an investigation into the incidence of E.coli in cattle to prevent future outbreaks, according to the Daily Post.
WCfH’s call came as another Welsh school was closed by health officials after new cases of the deadly E.coli infection were detected among pupils there.

There are now 171 cases at 42 different schools, mostly among pupils.
Scientists had not made any link between the South Wales outbreak and E.coli in cattle. Ever since the UK’s worst ever E.coli outbreak in Scotland in1996, farmers have been compelled to clean cattle before they go to slaughter.
Arwyn Owen, policy director at the Farmers Union of Wales, says that he “feel(s) it is misleading to point the finger at cattle.”
